ROCKFORD, Ill. --- The Rockford University athletic department is pleased to announce the addition of both men's volleyball and women's golf beginning in the 2019-20 academic year. With the additions of men's volleyball and women's golf, Rockford will now sponsor sixteen varsity sports, all of which will compete in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference at the NCAA Division III level.

"Men's volleyball is a growing sport and will provide a great opportunity for young men to continue playing the game they love while also receiving an elite education here at Rockford," RU Director of Athletics Jason Mulligan stated. "The Rockford area has become a hotbed for men's volleyball, and we believe that the sport is an excellent fit for Rockford University."

"Adding women's golf will enhance the opportunities and experiences of female student-athletes at our institution," Mulligan remarked. "Women's golf will be a great addition to our varsity sport programs because of the interest among current and prospective students, as well as the opportunity to compete for the NACC Championship."

Rockford will join nine current NACC members and future men's volleyball affiliate member St. Norbert (2020) when the Regents take to the court for the first time in 2020. In women's golf, the addition of Rockford will push sponsorship in the NACC to nine schools.
