MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- Third-seeded Dominican University captured its 10th Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Soccer Tournament crown with a 4-1 victory over top-seeded Milwaukee School of Engineering Saturday afternoon at Viets Field.
Jesus Lopez opened the scoring for the Stars (14-5-1) with a goal off an assist from Isaac Perez in the 24th minute. Dominican doubled its lead in the 35th minute when Josh Prindle headad in a ball off a cross from Denis Soldo and took the 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
The Stars added two more goals in the second half as Nicolo Vitale scored on a breakaway down the sideline in the 52nd minute and Alexander Lulek scored on a header off a corner kick in the 75th minute.
MSOE (15-4-0) avoided the shutout when Joey Schauer scored on a header off a corner kick in the 76th minute.
The Stars held a 22-7 advantage in shots, including a 10-5 edge in shots on goal.
Perez had a game-high four shots, while Lulek and Chris Linkenbach had three apiece for Dominican. Schauer had four of MSOE's seven shots, including two of the five shots on goal.
Daniel Dominguez stopped four of the five shots he faced to get the win for Dominican. MSOE's Ron Marchionna had six saves.
With the victory, the Stars earn the NACC's automatic berth into the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. The full tournament field and pairings will be announced Monday afternoon.
