INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The Dominican University men's soccer team will face Gustavus Adolphus College in an NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship first-round match Saturday at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
The Stars (14-5-1) won the NACC Men's Soccer Tournament as a No. 3 seed to earn their spot in the tournament. The Golden Gusties (14-3-1), regular season champions of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, received an at-large berth after begin bounced by Augsburg in the MIAC Playoff semifinals.
Dominican is making its 15th trip to the NCAA Tournament, posting a 14-13-3 mark in their previous 14 trips highlighted by a third-place finish in 2009. Gustavus - the 2005 national runner-up - is making its 12th trip (10-8-6) to the NCAA Tournament.
Host Luther (16-3-1), which won the American Rivers Conference tournament with a 2-1 win over Loras, faces Midwest Conference tournament champion Knox in the other first-round game. The Prairie Fire (16-4-1) upset 10th-ranked St. Norbert, 2-1, for the MWC Tournament crown.
The regional is scheduled for a Saturday-Sunday format with start times to be determined.
