Dominican University and Milwaukee School of Engineering both moved up one spot, while Benedictine University held steady in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Men's Volleyball Coaches Poll released Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019.
Dominican sits at No. 5 in the poll, receiving 266 points. The Stars (4-1) move up one spot after sweeping both No. 7 North Central and No. 12 Cal Lutheran on Saturday. Dominican begin Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play this weekend with league matches against Concordia Wisconsin (Friday) and Illinois Tech (Saturday) sandwiched around a Friday non-conference match against North Park.
Benedictine held steady at No. 9 after sweeping No. 12 Cal Lutheran Sunday. The Eagles (5-1), who received 159 points, have another tough week ahead of them. A top-10 matchup with No. 8 North Central (Ill.) slated for Tuesday has been postponed to Feb. 15 due to inclement weather, but a Friday night trip to No. 2 Carthage is still on the docket. Benedictine then travels to Fond du Lac Saturday for their NACC opener against Marian.
MSOE, which was idle last week, benefitted from losses by teams above them in the rankings and rose one spot to No. 13. The Raiders, who received 57 points, have four matches on tap for this week. They open their NACC schedule Wednesday night at Concordia Wisconsin before returning home to host Illinois Tech Friday and Aurora and No. 15 UC Santa Cruz in a triangular Saturday.
Springfield continues to hold the top spot in the poll, while Carthage and SUNY New Paltz move up to No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, following a loss by then-No. 2 Stevens. The Ducks dropped two spots to No. 4.
