MADISON, Wis. -- The career of Alyse Peters is one that many collegiate student-athletes strive for but few achieve. Peters' will leave Edgewood College a conference champion and now a Google Cloud Academic All-District winner after being named to the first team squad on Tuesday. Peters is the fifth Eagle to earn Academic All-District in 2017-18.
Peters, a graduate of Weyauwega-Fremont High School, claimed her first career individual conference title in her final championship event, winning the 10,000 meters at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Outdoor Championships. Peters also was a member of the NACC Distance Medley Relay championship team at the Indoor Championships in February. In cross country, Peters placed third at the NACC Championships, he highest career finish.
In the classroom, Peters graduated with a degree in Communications and a 3.98 grade point average. She had five semesters of a perfect 4.0 grade point average and was named to the Dean's List seven times. Peters served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee president and was voted Female Athlete of the Year by SAAC.
Peters is the fifth Edgewood College student-athlete this year to earn Academic All-District, joining Zach Hentrich (men's golf), Savannah Koester (volleyball), Garrett Lee (men's soccer), and Zander Rothering (men's soccer). Lee (first team) and Koester (third team) both went on to earn Academic All-American honors. Peters will learn if she has earned Academic All-American when the team is released on June 19.
