Dominican University's Julia Orozco and Wisconsin Lutheran College's Abby Mahsem have been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Position Player and Pitching Softball Student-Athletes of the Week for events of April 16-22, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Orozco (Lemont, Ill.) raised her batting average nearly eighty points, going 13-for-22 to bat .591 in the Stars' eight games last week. The rookie outfielder ended the week on a seven-game hitting streak, picking up multiple hits in four straight contests along the way. She drove in a team-best 11 runs on the week while logging a triple and a home run for an .818 slugging percentage and added four walks for a .630 on-base percentage.
Mahsem (South Milwaukee, Wis.) fired two complete games this week for the Warriors. In 14.0 innings, the junior right-hander went 1-1 with a 0.50 earned run average. She allowed just one earned run and struck out 20.
