LISLE, Illinois -- Benedictine University men's track and field student-athlete Roman Hill was named the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Athlete of the Week for Division III by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The sophomore competed at the Indiana Tech Open on Saturday afternoon in Fort Wayne, IN. Not only did the Centralia, IL native break his own personal record in the long jump, but he also broke the school record and is currently ranked first in all of NCAA DIII for his jump of 7.40m. Hill is also currently ranked 8th in the nation.

"This is a tremendous award for Roman to win," said head coach Kevin Paterson. "It's even more special because he has gone through so much adversity in the last year, coming off of an injury that took him away from the track for the 2016 outdoor season. Roman has worked hard to get back to this point and I really feel he's in store for a special season."

The men's track and field team is back in action on January 21 when they travel to compete in the NAIA/DIII Challenge at Olivet Nazarene.
