Newburn, Rodriguez Selected For Weekly Accolades

Benedictine University's Luther Newburn and Aurora University's Lisa Rodriguez have been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for events of Jan. 23-29, as selected by the league's sports information directors.

Newburn (Chicago, Illinois) bettered his school-record top mark in the country in the triple jump by 0.12 meters at UW-Whitewater, winning the event with a mark of 15.32. The rookie also placed seventh in the high jump (1.90) and 11th in the long jump (6.62).

Rodriguez (Sugar Grove, Ill.) won both her events, the 200 and 400, at Carthage College's Tadd Metzger Invitational moving her up to 13th in Division III in the 200-meter with a time of 25.92 seconds. The junior clocked a 60.89 in the 400.
