Pichen Earns All-American Honors In Weight Throw

Birmingham, Ala. -- Day one of the 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Birmingham Southern College at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama saw another Aurora University men's track and field representative claim a top finish and All-American honors.

Senior Brandon Pichen took on the field of 15 in the weight throw. Pichen advanced to the finals with his second throw, hurling a 18.76 distance which was sixth entering the finals. In the finals, he moved up to finish fifth with a throw of 19.13 (62' 9.25"). His mark would earn All-American honors for the second consecutive year at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Following the performance by Pichen, the Spartan team has and will finish with four points in the final team standings.

After a couple weeks off, the AU men will begin the 2018 outdoor track and field schedule. Spartans travel to Augustana College on Thursday, March 29 for the Viking Olympics that begin at 11:00 a.m. in Rock Island, Illinois.
