Aurora University setter Emily Lines was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® VII Team for NCAA Division III Volleyball, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), on Thursday for her combined performances in the classroom and on the court. She was a Second Team selection.
CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District VII covers Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Members of CoSIDA from the district vote on Academic All-District® honors. Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
A graduate student seeking her master's in accounting, Lines made the most of her final season of athletic eligibility. She earned AVCA All-Midwest Region and All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference first team honors and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Chicago Regional while leading the Spartans to the national quarterfinals of the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship.
Lines adds this latest honor to a growing list of accomplishments in her four-year Spartan career. She paced the Spartan offense in 2018, averaging 11.09 assists to rank fifth in Division III, while also contributing 3.25 digs per set. Lines posted 1,298 assists this season to push her career total to 3,937. Both figures top Aurora's all-time charts.
AU finished the 2018 season with a 26-9 overall, NCAA Division III Chicago regional champions and Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference regular season and tournament champions.
