LISLE, Ill. -- Emma Roberts continued the success of an outstanding sophomore year by being named to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District VII Women's Track/Cross Country Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
District VII comprises all NCAA Division III institutions in Illinois, Ohio and Indiana. The district selected 13 individuals to the all-district team. The all-district award honors success in the classroom and on the field. Every athlete who earns all-district moves to the All-America ballot. Academic All-America is widely thought of to be the highest honor a student-athlete can receive. Honorees must own at least a 3.3 GPA while being a significant contributor to their team who has been at the institution for at least a year.
Roberts won the 2017 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Cross County Championship, the first ever runner to win the event for Benedictine. The Sandwich, IL native went on to qualify for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship finishing 52nd. Progressing into the winter and spring, the record year continued on the track. Roberts continually set records in the distance events both indoors and outdoors, winning the conference championship in the 5,000 meters indoors and the 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters outdoors.
The 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Track/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams announced in June.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams.
