FOND DU LAC, Wis. --- Marian University director of athletics Jason Bartelt has announced the hiring of Chris Scott to take over the Sabre cross country and track and field programs.

"I am very excited to announce Chris Scott as the next head coach to lead our track and field and cross country programs," commented Bartelt.  "He is extremely passionate about continuing to build our programs and look forward to his success with both programs."

Scott joins the Sabre athletic department after spending time at rival Lakeland where he served as an assistant coach specializing in sprints and jumps.  During his three and a half seasons at Lakeland, the Muskies saw several school records go down and 12 student-athletes went on to earn all-conference accolades.  In the most recent track and field season, Scott helped lead the men's 4x400 relay team to a third-place finish at the NACC Championships during both the indoor and outdoor season to go with a men's student-athlete who finished third overall at the outdoor championships.  Scott also took over the cross country program during his tenure and spent time conditioning and training distance runners on the track and field squad.

His coaching career began at Frankfort High School where he served as a volunteer coach in 2011 but was promoted to serve as an assistant coach just one year later.  At Frankfort, Scott developed workout programs for the track and field program and spent time conditioning and training distance runners, sprinters, jumpers and the relay teams.  Along with his coaching duties while at Frankfort, he was able to compete at Kentucky State University and complete his bachelor's degree in physical education with a coaching minor in 2013.

"I would like to thank Marian University for adding me to their great family," commented Scott.  "I'm looking forward to this wonderful opportunity and getting this new journey started.  I can hardly wait to work with the team."

During his collegiate career at Kentucky State University, Scott earned All-SIAC honors in the 4x400 relay and long jump in 2010.  His career also saw him qualify for state in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and 4x200 relay during his time at Brunswick High School.
