Mahler, a senior catcher/designated hitter, led the way for the Cougars on opening weekend. He picked up six hits in 12 at-bats with eight total RBIs and two home runs. Against Franklin, he hit a solo home run in the ninth inning to spur a six-run top of the ninth inning that got the Cougars back in the contest. Mahler ended the weekend with a .500 batting average and a 1.083 slugging percentage. In the field, he had a clean weekend with no errors and ten putouts.
