Wendland, a junior, posted the 20th-ranked decathlon in NCAA Division III with 6,405 points to claim the title at the Augustana (Ill.) Meet of Champions. En route to the title, he had personal bests in the shot put, pole vault, long jump, discus, 400-meter dash, 110-meter hurdles, and 100-meter dash. Wendland posted the competition's best marks in the long jump, high jump, and 1500-meter run.
