Nelson, a junior setter, started the 2026 season in strong fashion, averaging 10.24 assists per set over Aurora's first five matches. The Spartans went 4-1 with the lone loss being a 3-2 result at Illinois Wesleyan. In addition to her 174 assists, Nelson added 13 kills from her setting postion and had seven service aces. She recorded 97 assists while leading Aurora to 3-0 victories over Coe, Ohio Northern, and Elmhurst at the Spartans' Jim Coleman Memorial Classic to earn tournament MVP honors.
