Sweeney, a freshman goalkeeper, led Marian to wins over Spalding (29-5) and Northland (9-6). He was called on to make just three saves against Spalding before putting in a strong performance against the LumberJacks. Against Northland, Sweeney made 12 saves with a .667 save percentage while holding the LumberJacks to just two man-up goals on six chances.
