Alvarez, a senior, won the pole vault at last weekend's NACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships by clearing a championship-record height of 4.78 meters (15-8 1/4). He also picked up a fifth-place finish in the javelin throw with a mark of 44.30 meters (145-4).
