Colon Maldonado, a junior, set new Aurora and NACC records in two events to start the 2024 outdoor season. At the Ole Miss Classic on March 23, she ran a time of 4:34.13 in the 1,500-meter run, which breaks the Aurora and NACC record set by Emily Paull in 2015. She then won the 5,000 at the North Central College First Chance Invitational with an Aurora and NACC record time of 17:10.41, outdistancing the rest of the field by 1:09.In addition, Colon Maldonado was victorious in the 3000 at the Ole Miss Classic with a time of 9:58.54. She was the only runner to break the 10-minute barrier in a field of 18 that included 15 NCAA Division I athletes. Colon Maldonado currently ranks sixth on the NCAA Division III performance list in the 5,000 and eighth in the 1,500.
