Schermacher, a junior, won the high jump and long jump, and took second in the pole vault. He cleared 2.01 meters (6-7) to win the high jump and 6.89 meters (22-7 1/4) to win the long jump, and cleared 4.64 meters (15-2 3/4) in the pole vault. On the track, Schermacher also won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.54 seconds.
