MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) has announced its major award winners and all-conference teams for the 2022-2023 women's basketball season.
St. Norbert College senior guard
Olivia DeCleene (De Pere, Wis.) was named NACC Player of the Year and NACC Defensive Player of the Year, while Lakeland forward
Mackenzie Miller (Schoolcraft, Mich.) was named NACC Freshman of the Year. The St. Norbert College coaching staff, led by head coach
Amanda Leonhard-Perry, was recognized as the NACC Women's Basketball Coaching Staff of the Year.
NACC Player of the Year & NACC Defensive Player of the Year --- Olivia DeCleene, St. Norbert College
DeCleene has played in 26 of St. Norbert's 27 games heading into the NCAA Tournament, averaging 10.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game. She is the Green Knights' second-leading scorer, trailing only Kaycee Gierczak (14.6 ppg), while posting league-leading totals in both assists (154) and steals (93). The 5-foot-4 guard also ranks 14th among NACC players in rebounding.
DeCleene currently ranks in the top 15 in NCAA Division III in assist-to-turnover ratio (second, +4.4), total assists (eighth), assists per game (eighth), steals (13th), and steals per game (15th).
In 26 games, she reached double figures in points 14 times, rebounds four times, and assists four times, posting five double-doubles in the process. One of those double-doubles came Jan. 14 against Rockford where DeCleene scored 10 points and dished out a NACC season-high 12 assists. She narrowly missed a triple-double on a handful of occasions during the regular season.
DeCleene is the first St. Norbert student-athlete to receive a major NACC award in women's basketball. She is also the third player in league history to be named NACC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season following MSOE's Carol Cayo (2012) and WLC's Kristen Schulz (2015).
NACC Freshman of the Year --- Mackenzie Miller, Lakeland University
Miller played in 25 of Lakeland's 26 games this season, averaging 12.3 points and 6.2 rebounds to lead the Muskies in both categories. She also posted 26 steals, 13 assists, and 12 blocked shots.
Miller ranks 24th in NCAA Division III in field goal percentage, connecting on a NACC-best 55.1 percent (129-of-234) of her shots from the field, while ranking eighth in scoring and 15th in rebounding. She scored in double figures in 18 of her 25 games, reaching the 20-point plateau in three of her last four contests. Miller also had three double-doubles, including an 11-point, 12-rebound effort against Dominican in December that featured a season-high in rebounds.
She is the first Lakeland student-athlete to receive a NACC major award in women's basketball since KC Blahnik was named Northern Athletics Conference Player of the Year in 2010.
NACC Coaching Staff of the Year --- St. Norbert College (Amanda Leonhard-Perry, head coach)
Led by third-year head coach Amanda Leonhard-Perry, the Green Knights have posted a 24-3 mark overall and an 18-0 record in NACC play en route to the NACC Tournament title and a berth in the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.
St. Norbert turns the ball over an NCAA Division III-low 11.8 times per game and ranks third nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (+1.35). The Green Knights also lead all NACC programs in scoring margin (+17.7) and turnover margin (+7.15), while ranking second in scoring defense (50.6 ppg), scoring offense (68.3), and turnovers forced per game (18.93), third in field goal percentage (41.1), field goal percentage defense (35.9), free throw percentage (70.8), steals per game (9.7), 3-point percentage defense (26.3),and 3-pointers per game (6.9), and fourth in rebounding margin (+2.7).

All-Conference Teams Announced
Nine of the NACC's 14 programs landed at least one player on the 15-player all-conference teams, led by league champion St. Norbert with three. The Green Knights had two players (DeCleene, Kaycee Gierczak) named to the All-NACC First Team and a third (Emma Morrisey) to the All-NACC Second Team.
Aurora, Edgewood, Lakeland, and Wisconsin Lutheran each had two players selected, while Concordia Chicago, Concordia Wisconsin, Illinois Tech, and Marian received one honor apiece. Both honorees from Edgewood, Lakeland, and WLC were first-teamers, while Aurora's selections were split between the first and second teams.
