Arnulfo Ortega (Laredo, Texas) have been named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Football Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 23-29, 2024, as selected by the league's athletics communications professionals.
Offense --- Tyler Adkins, so., QB, Aurora University
Adkins, a sophomore quarterback, paced the Aurora offense to a 72-6 homecoming victory over Concordia Chicago. Adkins was efficient on the afternoon, finishing 18-of-23 through the air for 227 yards and six touchdown passes in three quarters of action. He had touchdowns strikes of 37, 34, 13, 11, 10 and 2 yards.
Defense --- Sam Barnett, sr., LB, St. Norbert College
Barnett, a senior linebacker, returned a fumble 38 yards for a touchdown to put St. Norbert up 20-0 just before halftime in the Green Knights' 40-3 win over Rockford. He had the second-most tackles for St. Norbert as well, totaling five along with one tackle for loss.
Special Teams --- Arnulfo Ortega, sr., PK, Wisconsin Lutheran College
Ortega connected on both of his field goal attempts and all three of his extra point tries on Saturday in the Warriors' 33-31 win at Lakeland. The senior placekicker made field goals from 36 and 38 yards. The second field goal gave WLC an eight-point lead with 1:42 left in the contest and proved to be the game-winning margin. He remains a perfect 14-for-14 on PATs this season.
