MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Edgewood University battled with No. 2 Augsburg University in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship second round on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 16). Despite outshooting the Auggies 26-,5, the Eagles fell in a 1-0 final. The Eagles controlled possession for the majority of the second half, leaving it all on the pitch.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Augsburg University (18-2-2) scored in the first ten minutes on Sunday afternoon, as Mitchel Munzing netted his 11th goal of the season.
- The Eagles put two shots on net through the first 45 minutes. Jack Knight making Augsburg goalkeeper Christian Hodges work in the 22nd minute. Ben Brody added the Eagles second shot on goal in the first half, coming in the 29th minute.
- Edgewood University outshot the Auggies, 17-2, in the second half of action. Hodges managed six saves to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard.
- Edgewood University (16-3-2) left no doubts about their offensive power, taking 26 shots on Sunday, putting eight on target.
- Liam Moreira led the Eagles with four shots, one on net. Brandon Kaup and Gabe Voung both put two of their three shots on target on Sunday.
