BenU's Moses, Velazquez, St. Norbert's Ponteras Named NACC Football Student-Athletes of the Week

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- Benedictine University junior Jack Moses (Lake Zurich, Ill.) and sophomore Humberto Velazquez (Chicago, Ill.) and St. Norbert College senior Payton Ponteras (Wahiawa, Hawai'i) have been named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Football Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 15-21, 2025, as selected by the league's athletics communications professionals.

Offense --- Jack Moses, Jr., QB, Benedictine University
Moses, a junior quarterback, helped Benedictine end Aurora's 46-game conference win streak by throwing for 322 yards and four touchdowns in the 36-35 Eagles victory. He completed 26 of 37 passes which included 15 completions of 10 yards or longer. Two o Moses' touchdown passes came in the fourth quarter as Benedictine overcame a 35-17 deficit with 19 unanswered points.

Defense --- Payton Ponteras, Sr., DB, St. Norbert College
Ponteras, a senior defensive back, forced two turnovers in St. Norbert's 59-28 win over Concordia Chicago, nabbing a pick-six and forcing a fumble which led to a scoop and score. His forced fumble led to St. Norbert going up 28-0 in the first quarter, while his 15-yard interception return touchdown in the second quarter put the game at 35-7. He also led the team in tackles with six, three of them solo attempts.

Special Teams --- Humberto Velazquez, So., PK, Benedictine University
Velazquez, a sophomore placekicker, booted a 26-yard field goal and added three extra points in Benedictine's 36-35 come-from-behind victory over Aurora. He also averaged 62 yards per kickoff on seven attempts with a pair of touchbacks.
