Mari Szews (Rhinelander, Wis.) have been named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Women's Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Aug. 29-31, 2025, as selected by the league's athletics communications professionals.
Defense --- Katie Brisk, Freshman, DS, Aurora University
Brisk paced the Aurora defense in a 4-0 weekend at the Ripon College Classic. In her first four collegiate matches (14 sets), she picked up 70 digs for 5.00 per set and received at a .930 clip. She also added six service aces. Brisk recorded double-digits in digs in all four matches, topping out at 27 in a four-set win over UW-Superior.
Offense --- Mari Szews, Senior, MB, St. Norbert College
Szews, a senior middle, opened the 2025 season with 48 kills through four games, hitting .471 against just seven errors on 87 attempts while helping the Green Knights to a 4-0 start to the season. She hit double-digit kills in three of four matches, with her weekend high coming against Augsburg with 14 on 19 attempts and a .684 hitting percentage. Szews followed that performance with 13 against Galluadet, 12 against St. Scholastica and nine against Hamline. She also totaled 15 total blocks and five digs on the defensive side and was named the Chick-fil-A Invitational's Most Outstanding Player.
