Austin (AJ) Springer and St. Norbert College senior
Ezra Schermacher have been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-America® Men's Track & Field / Cross Country Team for NCAA Division III, as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA).
Springer was named to the first team, while Schermacher landed on the second team for the second year in a row.
Springer, a junior from Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, currently holds a 4.00 grade-point average majoring in electrical engineering. He went on a tear after missing the outdoor season and cross country in 2025, kicking things off by resetting his school record in the indoor 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.94 at the Red Hawk Invite on February 7. Three weeks later, he swept both the 800-meter run (1:53.28) and mile (4:19.21) at the NACC Indoor Championship, earning co-honors of Track Athlete of the Meet. His time at the Red Hawk Invite, qualified him for the second-straight year to the NCAA Indoor National Championship where he finished 11 in 1:53.28 to earn Second-Team All-American honors.
Springer didn't let up during the outdoor season, winning the 800-meter run the first three meets of the season. On April 17 at the Phil Esten Challenge, he reset his school record with a 1:51.38. At the NACC Outdoor Championships, Springer once again swept both the 800-meter run (1:52.94) and the 1,500-meter run (3:54.32). Six days later, Springer shattered his school record, dipping under the 1:50 barrier for the first time in his career in 1:48.99, that put him fourth in the country. At the NCAA Outdoor National Championship, Springer won his preliminary heat with a time of 1:50.09 where he advanced to the finals and finished fifth in 1:49.73 for First-Team All-American honors.
Schermacher, a Plymouth, Wisconsin, native and recent SNC graduate, earned a 3.94 grade point average in biology.
The senior swept Field Athlete of the Meet honors at this year's NACC indoor and outdoor track and field championships. At the NACC indoor championships, he earned the honor for the fourth straight year, compiling 28 points behind titles in the high jump (2.06 meters; 6-9) and pole vault (4.65m; 15-3) and a runner-up finish in the long jump (6.84m; 22-5 1/4). At the NACC outdoor championships, Schermacher captured three individual event crowns - the high jump (1.96m; 6-5), the long jump (6.96m; 22-10), and the pole vault (4.55m; 14-11) - and took fifth in the javelin throw (42.65m; 139-11). While not a factor in his winning the award, he also took third in the 110 high hurdles (15.17).
He qualified for both NCAA Track and Field Championships in 2026, earning a pair of second team all-America honors in the pole vault. At the indoor meet, he placed ninth after clearing 5.03 meters (16-6). Schermacher placed 16th at the outdoor national meet, clearing 4.90 meters (16-0 3/4). He was also a national meet qualifer in the high jump at the indoor championships.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his or her current institution and be nominated by their sports information director.
