MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) has named veteran official Steve Honacki as its new Coordinator of Officials for men's basketball.

Honacki, a Chicago native, followed his father, Stan, into the field. Stan Honacki was a referee and local assignor for over 50 years.

An active NCAA Division I official for over 16 years, Honacki started his officiating career in the NACC. He then added games in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) and the Midwest Conference (MWC) before moving into the NCAA Division I ranks with the Big Ten Conference, Mid-American Conference, Summit League, Horizon League, Conference USA, Missouri Valley Conference, Mountain West Conference, and Ohio Valley Conference.

"We are thrilled for Steve to be joining the NACC as our Coordinator of Officials," NACC Commissioner Jeff Ligney said. "The high-level experience, training, education, and oversight he will bring to our men's basketball officiating program will be a benefit to all of our programs."

In addition to the NACC, Honacki also serves as Coordinator of Men's Basketball Officials for the CCIW and the Midwest Conference and assigns officials for the University of Chicago. Over 40 officials from his staff have worked games in the NCAA Division III Championship, including all three officials in last year's national championship game.
