AUSTIN, Texas - MSOE men's basketball senior Jason Palesse has been named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America® second team for NCAA Division III men's basketball. The announcement came down early Wednesday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Palesse helped lead the Raiders to their first ever NACC regular season championship this past February, but more importantly was a leader in the classroom as well. Heading into his final couple of months at MSOE, Palesse is the proud owner of a 3.93 GPA, with a major in Mechanical Engineering.
Palesse started all 26 games that the Red & White played this past season, the second straight season in which he was a part of the starting lineup for every initial tipoff. Palesse averaged 10.6 points per game this season, while dishing out an average of 5.5 assists and shooting 48.6 percent from the field. His 144 assists are good for fourth place in team single season history, which was also good for the top spot this season in the NACC. Palesse ended his career with 812 points in 100 games played, and his 379 career assists is good for third all-time in the Raiders record books.
This marks the second year in a row in which he has brought home Google Cloud Academic All-American® honors, being a member of the third team last year. He was also named to the NACC All-Conference second team, moving up from honorable mention the year before. He is the 35th Raiders student-athlete to join a CoSIDA Academic All-American team, and one of eight total awards for the men's basketball program in that category.
