NORMAN, Okla. --- A trio of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) men's golf programs were recognized recently for their work in the classroom as the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced its 2018-19 Outstanding Academic Award winners.
Edgewood College was one of just 34 programs nationally (at all levels) to receive the President's Special Recognition Honor, finishing with a team GPA of 3.5 and above, while Benedictine University and Dominican University joined Edgewood by ranking among the 202 schools - 30 in NCAA Division III - to receive recognition as an All-Academic Team by finishing with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
Edgewood was one of just eight Division III programs to be recognized with the Presidents Special Recognition Honor. The other programs were highlighted by Augsburg, which was named the Academic National Champion for the division. The six other Division III programs that performed at an elite level academically were Kalamazoo, Swarthmore, UT-Dallas, Wabash, Washington & Lee, and Webster.
To be eligible for GCAA Outstanding Team Academic honors a college or university must submit GPAs for each player on their official squad list for the academic year.
