All-NACC Men's Soccer Teams Announced

MILWAUKEE, Wis. ( --- The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) has announced its major awards and all-conference teams for the 2018 men's soccer season. All awards are voted on by the league's head coaches.

Milwaukee School of Engineering's Rade Novakovich was named NACC Offensive Player of the Year, while NACC Defensive Player of the Year honors went to Aurora University's Jacob Lysik and NACC Freshman of the Year honors went to Jason Cano of Wisconsin Lutheran College. MSOE's Jimmy Banks was named NACC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year.

Novakovich led all NACC players in goals with 16 through the regular season, providing a potent 1-2 offensive punch with fellow first-teamer Joey Schauer (15 goals). He also ranks second in assists with 10 for a league-leading 42 points. Never shy around the goal, Novakovich ranks (as of October 30) in the top 10 in Division III in shots per game (fourth, 5.71), shots on goal per game (fourth, 2.94), and game-winning goals (sixth, 6).

Lysick, the league's assist leader with 11, helped lead the Spartans to a runner-up finish in the regular-season with an 8-2-1 mark. A captain on the back line, the Spartans allowed just 10 goals in NACC play while posting four shutouts behind his leadership.

Cano was WLC's primary offensive threat. With the ability to create for himself or finish plays set for him, he ranked among the NACC's leaders in points (34) and goals (15). Cano averaged one goal per game in conference play and scored in 8 of 11 NACC matches as the Warriors went 6-5 in league play.

Banks was honored by his peers as the league's top coach after leading the Raiders to their second NACC title with a 10-1-0 mark. This is Banks' third NACC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year honor (2009, 2014).

Overall, the Raiders had a league-high seven players named to the two 14-member all-conference teams, including three to the first team. Aurora and Dominican both had five players selected with two first-teamers and three second-teamers each. Benedictine had four all-conference picks, matching MSOE with three first-team honorees. Concordia Wisconsin finished with three all-league selections, Edgewood had two and Marian and Wisconsin Lutheran had one apiece.
