MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) ---Marian University senior Lindsey Strainis and Aurora University senior Elaine Walker have been named to the Google Cloud NCAA Division III Academic All-District Softball Teams, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Strainis was selected in District 6, which contains schools in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Walker was selected in District 7, which contains schools in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.
Strainis, an infielder, carries a 3.90 grade-point averaged while majoring in exercise and sport science. Walker, also an infielder, has a 3.82 GPA while majoring in accounting.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
The Division III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Division III Academic All-America® program.
The NCAA Division III Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams will be announced on June 4.
