RIVER FOREST, Ill. (naccsports.org) --- NACC Player of the Year Josseline Williams headed in a free kick in the 95th minute to send Dominican to its second straight NACC Women's Soccer Tournament crown with a 1-0 win over Illinois Tech.
The top-seeded Stars (18-2-0) controlled possession throughout the match and dominiated the contest statistically, racking up 19 shots to the Scarlet Hawks' three and posting a 13-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Illinois Tech (16-5-1) played solidly defensively, clogging the passing lanes as Dominican made repeated drives into the 18. Despite the disparity in overall shots, very few found the frame, leaving Dominican with just a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal.
In the overtime period, the Stars applied significant pressure and drew a foul on the end line just outside the 18. Maggie McClure served the ball into the box on the restart and Williams pushed the header past Illinois Tech keeper Caitlin Kenoian for the decider.
Williams finished with a match-high five shots, while Holli Cochran and Gabby Green recorded four apiece. Abbey Brown made one first-half save in goal for Dominican.
Kirsten Robinson had IIT's only shot on goal, while Erin James and Katie Hoefgen also recorded shots. Kenoian had two saves.
With the victory, the Stars receive the NACC's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. The tournament field and bracket will be announced Monday afternoon.
