Lakeland's Garcia, Rockford's Alvarez, and WLC's Barbian Capture NACC Football Weekly Honors

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- Lakeland University freshman Ben Garcia (Ladera Ranch, Calif.), Rockford University freshman Joey Alvarez (Rockford, Ill.), and Wisconsin Lutheran College sophomore Bryce Barbian (Cudahy, Wis.) have been named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Football Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 9-15, 2023, as selected by the league's athletics communications personnel. 

Offense --- Bryce Barbian, so., QB, Wisconsin Lutheran College
Barbian, a sophomore quarterback, completed 12 of 22 passing attempts for 296 yards and four touchdowns on Saturday in the Warriors' 42-14 NACC road win over Eureka. His four TD tosses came from 5, 7, 26, and 80 yards. It marked his third game this season with four touchdown passes.

Defense --- Joey Alvarez, fr., LB, Rockford University
Alvarez, a freshman linebacker, had a career day for the Regents on Saturday against Benedictine. He tallied a game- and career-high 18 tackles and a half tackle for loss. He also intercepted a pass and helped the Regents hold the Eagles to just 9 yards passing. 

Special Teams --- Ben Garcia, fr., P, Lakeland University
Garcia, a freshman punter, helped the Lakeland defense and special teams make the difference on a windy day in a 17-9 Muskies win over Concordia Chicago. He punted five times, averaging 35.4 yards per kick with a long of 58 yards. Three of Garcia's punts were downed inside the Concordia Chicago 15-yard line, including a pair inside the CUC 5.
