Aurora 52, Concordia Chicago 0
Coming off a bye, Aurora was able to use a big second quarter and some strong defense to pick up its second straight conference win, shutting out Concordia Chicago on Homecoming at Vago Field in Aurora, Illinois. With the win, Aurora improves to 2-3 on the season, and 2-1 in conference play. Concordia Chicago is now 3-2, and 1-2 in NACC games.

After Aurora missed a field goal and Concordia Chicago punted, the Spartans were able to take advantage of some excellent field position, when Jackson Alcorn connected with Jalen Davis to put Aurora on the board first.

The two teams traded the ball back and forth for the remainder of the first quarter, but Aurora struck quickly in the second frame as Demarion Williams scampered for a 62-yard touchdown on the second play of the quarter to give the hosts a 14-0 lead.

Concordia Chicago fumbled on the third play of the ensuing drive, giving Aurora the ball at the CUC 19-yard line. The Spartans netted nine yards on the first three plays, which included a CUC delay-of-game penalty. Faced with a fourth-and-1, Alcorn found Braden Siri over the middle for a 10-yard touchdown. Brett Money's successful PAT kick gave Aurora a 21-0 lead.

A facemask penalty on the ensuing kickoff left the Cougars pinned at their own 2-yard line to start their next drive. Hoping to catch Aurora off guard and, perhaps, gain a field-position advantage, the Cougars punted on second down. Dennis Vanderplow's punt was fielded by Tristan Baur at the Aurora 44 and advanced five yards before being dislodged by a hit from Kadin Stroer. Ever opportunistic, Spartan kick-blocking specialist Jamari Mckay scooped up the loose ball and sprinted 51 yards to the end zone to give Aurora a four-score lead.

The Spartans added another touchdown before halftime as Alcorn found Dominick Coronado from five yards out, and went into the half leading 35-0.

Alcorn threw touchdown passes to Ethan Svoboda and Thomas Van Overberghe in the third quarter, while Brett Money hit a 27-yard field goal halfway through the fourth quarter to conclude the scoring as the Spartans defense held strong to keep the Cougars off the board and preserve the shutout.

Alcorn was the leading passer in the game, going 13-of-28 for 253 yards and five touchdowns. Williams was the leading rusher, picking up 65 yards and a touchdown on three carries, for an average of 21.7 yards per carry. Lucious Dones was Aurora's top receiver, making three catches for 93 yards.

Colton Bosch completed six of his 14 passes for the Cougars for 68 yards through the air. Phoenyx Clark led all CUC rushers, gaining 51 yards on 16 attempts, averaging 3.2 yards per carry. Korey Randle was the leading receiver for CUC, catching three passes for 55 yards.

The Spartans defense forced a pair of fumbles, and sacked Concordia Chicago quarterbacks a total of nine times. Stroer led the Cougars on defense, making a game-high 12 tackles, including a half-tackle for a loss. Asher Hamby led Aurora in tackles, making eight of them.

Benedictine 27, Wisconsin Lutheran 13
After falling behind early, Benedictine was able to pull off a comeback and outlast Wisconsin Lutheran at Raabe Stadium in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Benedictine remains a perfect 5-0 overall and 3-0 in NACC action. Wisconsin Lutheran falls to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

Wisconsin Lutheran started the game with the ball, and went on a long, 75-yard drive that culminated in Carson Koehler running it in from the 1-yard line to give the Warriors the early lead.

The two teams punted the ball back and forth heading into the second quarter, where Benedictine scored less than a minute in, with Dino Stephens breaking through on a 13-yard rush to tie the game.

The second quarter ended with five punts and two turnovers-on-downs, and the two teams went into halftime with the score knotted at 7-7.

Benedictine struck first in the second half, as Marcus Martin found Tristan Weglarz for a 24-yard touchdown to give the lead to the Eagles. Those were the only points scored in the third quarter, and the Eagles held their seven-point lead going into the fourth.

The Eagles grew their lead early in the fourth quarter, when Stephens added a passing touchdown to his stats of the day, connecting with Jason Moore to grow Benedictine’s lead by six. However, the extra point was blocked, keeping it a 20-7 game.

Wisconsin Lutheran answered with a score of their own, and Roman Morales got it to Jamil Gordon in the end zone from 21 yards out to make it a one-score game. However, WLC’s two-point conversion failed, and the Eagles remained ahead by seven.

Following a trio of punts, Dawson Piper picked off Morales at the WLC 10, and returned the interception for a touchdown. This extra point attempt was good, and the Eagles took a 27-13 lead.

Morales was intercepted again on WLC’s next drive, and Tyler Pospisil picked up the first down that Benedictine needed, allowing the Eagles to kneel the ball twice and hold onto the win.

Martin went 14-for-22 for Benedictine, collecting 122 passing yards and a touchdown. Stephens was the leading rusher of the game, gaining 159 yards and a touchdown on the ground, averaging 4.8 yards per carry on 33 carries to go along with his passing touchdown. The two-point attempt was denied by the Falcons defense, and CUW held the 49-6 lead going into the final quarter.
