NACC Announces Indoor Track and Field Weekly Honors for Feb. 5-11, 2024

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- Aurora University junior Deyanneira Colon Maldonado (women's track), Benedictine University senior Sulaiman Ahmed (men's field), Milwaukee School of Engineering sophomore Jessa Alderman (women's field), and Wisconsin Lutheran College senior Zeke Micheel (men's track) have been named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Indoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 5-11, 2024, as selected by the league's athletics communications professionals.

This is the third NACC weekly honor this season for Colon Maldonado and the second in as many weeks for Alderman.

Women's Track --- Deyanneira Colon Maldonado, jr., Aurora University
Colon Maldonado, a junior from Aurora, Illinois, set a new Aurora and NACC indoor record in the 5000-meter run with a 16:46.19 clocking at the Grand Valley State Big Meet on Feb. 9. She finished ninth overall and second amongst NCAA Division III runners in the multi-divisional field. Colon Maldonado chopped 44 seconds off the previous AU and NACC record of 17:30.29 set by the Spartans' Jackie Schane in 2018. Her time currently ranks ninth on the NCAA Division III performance list and tops the NACC performance list by 62 seconds.

Women's Field --- Jessa Alderman, so., Milwaukee School of Engineering
Alderman, a sophomore from Janesville, Wisconsin, broke the MSOE school record in the shot put with a toss of 13.30 meters (43-7 3/4) to finish third at the Dick Hendricks Invitational hosted by Ripon College. The mark currently tops the NACC performance list by nearly nine inches (0.22m).

Men's Track --- Zeke Micheel, sr., Wisconsin Lutheran College
Micheel, a senior distance runner from Salt Lake City, posted a school record and NACC top time in the 5000-meter run at the Windy City Rumble hosted by the University of Chicago. He finished second out of 23 runners with a time of 15:05.50, which converts to 14:55.91 based on track size. He topped teammate Peyton Hartman's previous school record of 15:12.59 from a year ago at the NACC Championships.

Men's Field --- Sulaiman Ahmed, sr., Benedictine University
Ahmed, a senior from Bartlett, Illinois, won the long jump at the Windy City Rumble hosted by the University of Chicago. He bested the field of 31 with a leap of 6.94 meters (22-9 1/4) - a season-best mark that ranks second in the conference, fifth in the region, tied for 45th nationally.
