MSOE Drops Opening NCAA Baseball Regional Game to Webster

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.  – The MSOE baseball team opened up NCAA Regional play Friday afternoon with host #13 Webster University and couldn't stop the long ball early on to fall into the elimination bracket.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Even at a different site, Webster (37-7, 17-1 SLIAC) went all in on the home-field advantage and the wind, blasting five home runs in the first four innings to take a 10-0 lead. The Gorloks then added one more in the fifth and two in the seventh, pushing their advantage to 13-0.
  • MSOE (27-17, 16-8 NACC) finally got on the scoreboard in the eighth when Christian Bosque and AJ Le each reached on base hits and Nicolas Nyasende coming in to run for Bosque. Jordan Skolmar knocked in the first with RBI single and Kyle Mayberry driving in another on a sacrifice fly to make it 13-2 but couldn't come away with any more runs in the ninth.
