SNC's Anderson Wins National Title, CUW's Sainz De Rozas Earns All-America Honors on Final Day of NCAA Championships

GENEVA, Ohio — St. Norbert College's Aiden Anderson claimed a second pole vault national title to highlight performances from Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) student-athlets as the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships drew to a close Saturday at SPIRE Institute.

In a competition moved indoors due to inclement weather, Anderson and Washington University in St. Louis' Tommaso Maiocco were both clean over the first seven bars, topping out at 5.15 meters (16-10 3/4). The pair both ran into trouble at 5.20 meters (17-0 3/4), however, each missing on three attempts to send the fight for the national title to a jump-off, which was won by Anderson.

The jump-off began at 5.20 meters with both missing. The bar dropped to 5.15 meters, with both athletes again missing. Both cleared 5.10 meters (16-8 3/4), with the bar then going back to 5.15 meters. Anderson cleared and Maiocco did not at that height, giving Anderson the title in a hard-fought battle.

The winning height of 5.15 meters matches Anderson's winning height from the NCAA indoor meet in March, which set a new NACC all-time mark.

Two days removed from capturing first-team all-America honors in the 10,000-meter run, Aurora University's Deyanneira Colon Maldonado and Concordia University Wisconsin's Ainara Sainz De Rozas took to the line in the women's 5,000-meter run. Both started mid-pack, but Sainz De Rozas steadily began to work her way forward past the race's midpoint. She sat sixth at the 3K mark, moved up two more spots over the next two laps, and took the bell in third place before being overtaken down the stretch by Lewis and Clark's Riley Buese to finish in fourth place with a time of 16:32.74.

Colon Maldonado, on the other hand, had moved up to fifth place with three laps to go but fell off the pace down the stretch and finished ninth with a time of 16:46.96.

With her fourth-place time, Sainz De Rozas erased the NACC all-time mark of 16:34.97 set by Colon Maldonado in April 2024.

St. Norbert's Eden Maranell finished 17th in the women's triple jump. After fouling on her first two preliminary attempts, she posted a mark of 11.74 meters (38-6 1/4) on her final jump of the competition.

Elsewhere on the track, Milwaukee School of Engineering's Adam Shaw finished 11th in the 1,500-meter run final with a time of 3:55.14 and earned second-team all-America honors.

Friday Recap
Aurora's Steven Tinsley earned his second second-team all-America honor in as many days with an 11th-place finish in the shot put. Tinsley uncorked a throw of 17.04 meters (55-11) on his first throw of the competition. Unable to improve on that mark with his two subsequent throws, he missed qualifying for finals by five inches. St. Norbert's Jacob Klitzke finished 17th with a top throw of 16.20 meters (53-1 3/4).

In the high jump, Illinois Institute of Technology's Olivia Jameson was able to clear the opening height of 1.60 meters (5-3) on her second attempt, then missed on three chances at 1.65 meters (5-5) to finish in a tie for 17th place.
