MSOE's Alderman Fourth in Shot Put to Lead NACC on Day Two at NCAA Championships

LA CROSSE, Wis. (naccsports.org) — Five Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) student-athletes competed Friday as the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships continued at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Of the five NACC entries competing on the lightest day of the schedule, three resulted in all-America honors. Topping the list was Milwaukee School of Engineering's Jessa Alderman, who finished fourth in the women's shot put after uncorking a throw of 14.12 meters (46-4) on her final throw of the competition.

St. Norbert College's Eden Maranell just missed the podium in the heptathlon, finishing ninth with 4,816 points to earn second team all-America honors. Maranell finished in the top half of the field in the day's first two events - the long jump and javelin throw - to move from 13th place to ninth, but could not take the final step despite a strong 800-meter effort (fifth, 2:21.04) as all of her potential podium targets finished with comparable or better times.

The NACC's final all-America honor Friday went to Illinois Institute of Technology's Olivia Jameson in the women's high jump. Jameson cleared the opening height of 1.59 meters (5-2 1/2) on the first attempt, but needed two tries at 1.64 meters (5-4 1/2) before bowing out of the competition in 16th place when the bar was raised to 1.67 meters (5-5 3/4).

In the men's shot put, St. Norbert's Jacob Klitzke posted a throw of 15.52 meters (50-11) on his first throw but was unable to improve on the mark and finished 21st overall.

MSOE's Austin Springer was the only NACC competitor on the track Friday. He made a late charge to win his qualifying heat of the 800-meter run and advance to Saturday's final with the third-best qualifying time (1:50.09).

Four NACC student-athletes are set to compete in Saturday's final day of competition, with three making their second appearance at this year's national meet. St. Norbert's Ezra Schermacher gets things underway in the men's pole vault at noon. Edgewood's Kylee Doherty competes in the javelin throw at 2 p.m. The javelin throw might be Doherty's better event despite earning all-America honors with an eighth-place finish in Thursday's discus throw.

Springer competes in the men's 800 final at 3 p.m., while Concordia Wisconsin's Ainara Sainz De Rozas takes a No. 3 national seed into the women's 5,000 at 4 p.m. Sainz De Rozas was runner-up in Thursday's 10K by less than one second.
