Rockford's Jake Bilotta Named CSC Third Team Academic All-America

ROCKFORD, Ill. --- Rockford University senior third baseman Jake Bilotta added yet another award to his collection on Tuesday morning (July 1) when he was selected Third Team Academic All-America by College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Academic All-America is by far one of the most difficult awards to receive at the collegiate level. Recipients must have both exemplary academic and athletic accomplishments, while also first being named CSC Academic All-District. Bilotta becomes the first Rockford University baseball player to earn the award since 1985 (John Wood), and he is also the only NACC baseball player to receive the prestigious honor this season.

Bilotta concluded his collegiate career with a plethora of awards, capped off by the CSC Third Team Academic All-America selection. Previously this year, he was named Third Team All-America by the American Baseball Coaches Association, First Team All-Region, Second Team All-NACC, Chi Alpha Sigma, a NACC Scholar-Athlete and to the RU Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

Athletically this season, he broke four school records (career at bases, runs scored, doubles and single-season stolen bases), tied the single-game stolen bases record and ended his career on a 29-game hitting streak. Statistically, Bilotta hit .362 with a .456 on-base percentage and a .621 slugging percentage. He had 63 hits, 65 runs scored, 17 doubles, 2 triples, 8 home runs, 30 runs batted in and 28 stolen bases.

As a team, Rockford qualified for the NACC Tournament in each of his final two seasons and posted its most overall wins in a season since 2010 during his final year.
