MADISON, Wis. – Edgewood University Athletic Director Nick Pasquarello announced the hiring of Andy Knapp as the Eagles head cross country and track and field coach Tuesday, August 5.
"We are thrilled to welcome Andy Knapp as the new head coach for our cross country and track and field programs at Edgewood University," said Director of Athletics Nick Pasquarello. "After a rigorous national search, it became clear that Coach Knapp brings not only outstanding coaching experience but also a genuine passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field."
Knapp brings a wide range of experience in collegiate cross country and track & field, having coached across all three NCAA divisions as well as in the NAIA. Most recently, Knapp served as head cross country and track and field coach at Savannah College of Art and Design. Knapp is no stranger to Madison, having spent time as a volunteer assistant cross country coach at the University of Wisconsin, Madison from 2018 to 2021.
"From the moment I stepped on campus I felt great support from the entire athletic department and those surrounding it, and I knew Edgewood University would be my next home," Knapp said. "Thank you to Director of Athletics Nick Pasquarello, President Dr. Andrew Manion, and the entire hiring committee for this wonderful opportunity to join the Edgewood University community. I am excited to get started and begin working on rebuilding this program into a conference contending and nationally relevant program!"
During his time at SCAD, Knapp led the women's cross country team to four-straight SUN Conference Championships, including two straight perfect scores. In 2024, Knapp was named USTFCCCA NAIA Women's South Region Coach of the Year. Knapp added two men's cross country SUN Conference Championships during his time at SCAD. Knapp has coached an NAIA champion and 12 All-Americans during four and half years at SCAD.

In addition to his time at SCAD, Knapp served as Director of Track and Field Operation at The University of Akron from 2015 to 2016. Knapp managed logistical needs of the Zips cross country and track and field program.
A native of Shelby, Ohio, Knapp was a member of the cross country and track and field teams at the University of Akron, where he was a part of the five Mid-American Conference team championships for the Zips.
Knapp has a Bachelor of Science in education with a concentration in sport management from the University of Akron. Knapp went on to earn his Master of Science in Kinesiology and participated in the sport psychology and motor behavior graduate program at the University of Tennessee.
