MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- Edgewood University senior Christina Ekkela (Salem, Wis.) has been named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Women's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 15-21, 2025, as selected by the league's athletics communications professionals.

Ekkela made an impressive run in her singles draw at the Gustavus Fall Invitational. The senior opened the tournament with an 8-4 win over Annika Dox of Cornell College. She went on to defeat Norah Brusco of St. Olaf by another 8-4 margin before falling in the semifinal to Allyson Yahn of Saint Benedict (Minn.) by an 8-5 score. Ekkela added a 2-0 mark in conference play earlier in the week, as the Eagles defeated Concordia Wisconsin 7-0. Ekkela earned a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles with partner Bailey Knott before taking home a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
