Illinois Tech Outlasts Edgewood for Second NACC Women's Tournament Title

KOHLER, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- Illinois Institute of Technology defeated Edgewood University, 4-2, Sunday at Sports Core Health and Racquet Club to win the 2026 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Women's Tennis Tournament.

It is the second NACC Women's Tennis Tournament title for Illinois Tech, and the first since 2022. The title also gave the Scarlet Hawks the NACC's automatic berth in the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship.

Edgewood (16-11) claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Evelyn Taylor and Hattie Plenty topped Martyna Kalinowska and Thea Salcedo, 6-3, at No. 1, while Christina Ekkela and Kaitlyn Narkis posted a 6-1 win over Paige Geiger and Angelica Conwell. 

Moving to singles, Illinois Tech (11-9) picked up straight-set wins from Maddalena Dumangane at No. 2  (6-3, 6-3) and Thea Salcedo at No. 3 (6-1, 7-6 [4]) to take a 2-1 lead. The Scarlet Hawks then tacked on a 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 4 from Maia Lecuona Ramos to come within a point of victory.

The Eagles extended the match as Taylor posted a 6-3, 7-6 (7) win over Kalinowska at the No. 1 spot.

The final two matches went to three sets with Conwell outlasting Lauryn Krober 1-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4) on court six to close out the match.

In the final match, Ekkela was leading Geiger, 5-7, 6-1, 5-4 when the match was abandoned.
