CUW Men's Lacrosse's Historic Journey Ends in the NCAA Tournament

MEQUON, Wis. – There is a lot to be thankful for, for the Concordia Wisconsin men's lacrosse program. The Falcons reached new heights in 2026 and hosted the first-ever home NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament game at Fitting Field on Wednesday. The Polar Bears of Ohio Northern spoiled the festivities with a 16-4 victory.

The Polar Bears threw the first punch on Wednesday and held a 5-0 lead.

Freshman Kaleb Weikel (Andover, Minn.) put the Falcons on the scoreboard in the final minute of the first quarter.

The Orange and black rode another 5-0 run to start the second quarter.

Once again, the Falcons struck in the final minute of the quarter as the Falcons raced down the field and Kaleb Weikel found senior Preston Meier (Owatonna, Minn.) and Meier scored with 16 seconds left.

ONU started the third quarter, but the Falcons scored on back-to-back possessions with sophomore Bryce Marval Glenview, Ill.) scoring off a Kaleb Weikel assist and junior Bryce Petersen (Waukesha, Wis.) scoring off a Preston Meier assist.

The Polar Bears closed the game with another 5-0 run to secure the victory.

Ohio Northern held a 48-40 advantage in shots and a 27-15 margin on shots on goal.

Concordia has a 35-30 advantage in ground balls, with senior Frank Trewyn (Mukwonago, Wis.) leading the way with seven.

Trewyn and the Falcons also dominated the faceoff circle and held a 15 to 7 margin, Frank Trewyn won 12 of his 18 faceoffs and junior Jaxon Niemeyer (Tinley, Park, Ill.) won three of his four.

The Falcons also fought off both of their penalties in the game on man-down defense.

Sophomore Nolan O'Malley (Chicago, Ill.) finished with 11 saves.

Ohio Northern will bus over to Connecticut and face Wesleyan on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Falcons finish the year with a 19-2 record. The Birds broke the season records for wins in a season, longest winning streak and most home victories with 10.
