Seeds Hold in NACC Men's Lacrosse Tournament Quarterfinals

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- All four home teams captured victories as the 2025 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Lacrosse Tournament kicked off with quarterfinal play Saturday.

Top-seeded Aurora University cruised into Wednesday's semifinals with a 22-7 victory over eighth-seeded Edgewood College. The Spartans will face No. 4-seed Lake Forest College - a 17-8 winner over No. 5-seed Milwaukee School of Engineering. The other side of the bracket saw No. 3-seed Concordia University Wisconsin top No. 6-seed Illinois Institute of Technology, 13-5, and No. 2-seed University of Dubuque edge No. 7-seed Benedictine University, 12-10.

Aurora and Lake Forest will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Spartan Stadium in Montgomery, Illinois, while CUW travels to Dubuque for a 4 p.m. contest at Oyen Field in Dubuque, Iowa.

The winners of Wednesday's semifinals will meet for the NACC Tournament title Saturday with the higher seed hosting.

(1) Aurora def. (8) Edgewood, 22-7
Aurora's Tyler Foerstel scored an unassisted tally just 13 seconds into the game, setting an early tone for the contest. The Spartans (12-5) scored the games first three goals en route to a 6-3 lead after one quarter and 8-4 at halftime before erupting for 14 second half goals.

Griffin Joas and Chris Bucci each finished with three goals and an assist to lead Aurora, while Owen Spencer had two goals and five ground balls. Eli Etzler was 17-of-20 on faceoffs and scooped up 11 ground balls.

Asher Deputy made seven saves while allowing just four goals over the game's first three quarters.

Nick Orosco scored three goals on eight shots to lead the Eagles (5-11), while Lake Rewey added two goals and an assist.

The Spartans held a 61-22 advantage in shots, including a 38-14 edge in shots on goal, and were 3-of-4 on extra-man opportunities. Aurora also held a 59-32 edge in ground balls and won 25 of 33 faceoffs.

(4) Lake Forest def. (5) MSOE, 17-8
Lake Forest held MSOE to just one goal in each of the first three quarters, building a 16-3 lead before the Raiders mounted a late rally.

Macklin Thomas scored a team-high four goals to lead the Foresters (10-7), who held a 49-26 advantage in shots and were a perfect 19-for-19 in clear attempts. Aidan Wigton added three goals and an assist. Andrew Widlar played just into fourth quarter, making six saves while allowing just three goals.

Soren Savard and Josh Scheibel each scored two goals to lead MSOE (10-7), while Graden Jansen was 13-of-25 on faceoffs and picked up a team-high seven ground balls.

(3) Concordia Wisconsin def. (6) Illinois Tech, 13-5
CUW's Caleb Ruger scored just 50 seconds into the game, then added three more first-half goals as the Falcons built a 6-1 halftime advantage.

Ruger finished with a game-high six goals and assisted on a seventh to lead CUW (11-7). Bryce Petersen added three goals and two assists, and Jaxon Hill scooped up a team-high seven ground balls while going 11-of-14 on faceoffs. Nolan O'Malley stopped 11 shots while allowing just five goals.

Jackson Brass led Illinois Tech (8-9) with three goals and an assist on a game-high 13 shots.

The Falcons, who held a 45-29 advantage in shots, were 23-of-25 on clears and won 13 of 22 faceoffs.

(2) Dubuque def. (7) Benedictine, 12-10
The last game of the day ended up being the closest of the four as Dubuque and Benedictine battled to a 9-9 tie after three quarters. Luis Hernandez gave the Eagles a 10-9 lead with a goal less than an minute into the final frame, but unassisted tallies from Giovanni Silva and Aydan Rathsabandith put the Spartans back in front midway through the quarter. Aidan Culligan added an insurance goal for UD in the final few minutes.

Dubuque (11-6) held a 50-30 advantage in shots overall, but only led 27-20 in shot on goal. The Spartans also held a slim 35-29 advatage in ground balls, while the Eagles (6-12) won 16 of 25 faceoffs. Dubuque was also 3-for-4 in extra-man opportunities, while Benedictine came up empty in the same number of extran-man chances.

Sam Todd led Dubuque with four goals and three asssits, while scooping up four ground balls. Culligan added three goals and two assists, while Silva chipped in with two goals and an assist.

Hernandez posted a game-high five goals and assisted on a sixth, while Luke Grant and Robert Schroder added two tallies apiece. Jack Whalon was 16-of-23 on faceoffs and picked up 11 ground balls.
