OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin softball team concluded its amazing 2025 campaign on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament. The Falcons fell short against the No. 16-ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 4-1, in a game suspended due to weather on Friday evening. CUW had opened Friday with an 8-3 win over Central (Iowa) in another elimination game.
With Friday's 8-3 victory over Central, the senior class of Megan Bloyer, Jess Pozezinski, Jasmine Freeze, KianaMarie Taccad, Adrianna Martinez, and Taylor Jacobson became the winningest class in program history with 133 victories. The class is the only class in program history to appear in three NCAA Division III Tournaments and claim three NACC Tournament titles. This amazing group also won three NACC Regular Season titles and posted 81 conference victories.
The Falcons also reached the 30-win plateau for the fifth time in program history, and the 32 wins are tied for the third-most in program history. CUW finishes the season at 32-13.
Concordia Wisconsin 8, Central (Iowa) 3
The Dutch tried to strike early on Friday and tried to steal third base, but a throw down from senior Megan Bloyer (Oregon, Wis.) easily picked off the runner.
The Falcons tallied three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Senior Jasmine Freeze (Bolingbrook, Ill.) crushed the ball over the fence in left field with a three-run blast that also scored Bloyer and junior Rylie Duval (Elgin, Ill.).
The Red and White left two on base in the second inning with a fielder's choice.
Central scored a run in the third inning with an infield single.
Freeze continued to dominate the Dutch in the third inning with a double into the gap in right-center that scored sophomore Jenna Lischka (Manitowoc, Wis.) from first base.
Another infield single scored a run for the red jerseys in the fourth inning.
CUW responded with a spicy shot to shortstop in the bottom of the inning from Lischka that allowed junior Nora Statz (Helenville, Wis.) to score.
Central scored its final run of the game in the fifth inning on a groundout to shortstop. The Dutch tried to score another run, but Bloyer was waiting and had the easy out off a toss from junior Maggie Plahmer (Slinger, Wis.).
The Falcons had the last laugh when senior Jess Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.) crushed a three-run home run out of the park in the sixth inning to send in sophomore Jenna Shadoski (Janesville, Wis.) and senior Adrianna Martinez (Chicago, Ill.).
The Dutch folded with a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh inning on three groundouts.
Freeze only allowed four hits in the start.
Sophomore Kylie Strupp (Slinger, Wis.) earned the win in the circle and only allowed four hits.
Freeze and Martinez led the contest with three hits each. Freeze also brought in four RBI in the victory.
The Falcons and Dutch have played three games to a complete seven or more innings over the past three years with CUW posting a 2-1 mark in those games.
Central finished the year with a 26-13 overall record and had a 9-7 American Rivers Conference record.
No. 16 UW-Oshkosh 4, Concordia Wisconsin 1
The Falcons were the first team on the scoreboard in the second inning. After senior Jasmine Freeze (Bolingbrook, Ill.) started the threat with a double to right field, junior Nora Statz (Helenville, Wis.) scored senior KianaMarie Taccad (Chicago, Ill.) on a single to right field.
The Titans tied the game with an infield single in the second inning on an unearned run.
Oshkosh added another run on a home run in the fourth inning.
Lightning was detected in the area, and the game was halted. Due to a lack of lighting at the stadium, the game was resumed on Saturday morning.
The Black and Gold added two more runs in the fifth inning on a double into the gap in right field.
The Falcons showed a lot of heart and fought until the very end. Adrianna Martinez started the seventh-inning rally with a single to right field. Sophomore Jenna Shadoski (Janesville, Wis.) then doubled to left field. The Titans walked senior Jess Pozezinski (Lake Villa, Ill.) to load the bases, but the comeback was not in the cards for Concordia,
Freeze, Pozezinski Named to UW-Oshkosh Regional All-Tournament Team
On Saturday evening, Wisconsin-Oshkosh announced the NCAA Division III Oshkosh Regional All-Tournament Team. The Concordia Wisconsin softball team landed two selections with Jasmine Freeze and Jess Pozezinski.
A senior shortstop from Lake Villa, Illinois, Pozezinski is claiming her first NCAA Regional honor. Pozezinski had a hit in all three games, including two hits in the first game against Oshkosh. She had a three-run home run to down the Dutch of Central. Pozezinski was also walked twice.
A senior pitcher and designated player from Bolingbrook, Illinois, Freeze is also claiming her first NCAA Regional accolade. Freeze threw three innings in the victory over Central on Friday. At the plate, she brought fear to the pitchers in Oshkosh, with five hits on the weekend. She crushed three hits against Central with two doubles and a three-run home run.
Also on the Oshkosh Region All-Tournament Team were Rylee Dunkin of Central, Brianna Bougie, Abby Garceau, and Grace Nardi of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and Jesse Klicker, Kaitlyn Roberts, Ashley Zygowski, and Morgan Hardwood as the Most Outstanding Player from Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Wisconsin Stevens Point advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals against Trine with a 3-1 victory over Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the winner-take-all game.
