St. Norbert Women Take Fifth-Straight NACC Indoor Title

RIPON, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- St. Norbert College won nine of 17 events and had multiple scorers in all but two individual events en route to capturing its fifth women's team title in as many years as the 2026 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Indoor Track and Field Championships wrapped up Saturday at the Willmore Center.

The Green Knights rolled up 265.5 points to easily outdistance the field. Concordia University Wisconsin finished second with 148 points on the strength of five event crowns, while Milwaukee School of Engineering edged Illinois Institute of Technology, 85-76, for third place. The Raiders (two) and Scarlet Hawks (one) accounted for the three remaining individual champions. Aurora University (48) placed fifth, while Wisconsin Lutheran College (18.5) was sixth, Benedictine University and Concordia University Chicago (both 7) tied for seventh, Edgewood University (5) was ninth, and Rockford University (3) was 10th. Dominican University and Lakeland University both sent competitors to the championship, but did not score.

Concordia University Wisconsin senior Melanie Arvis was named NACC Track Athlete of the Meet after completing the distance trifecta with wins in the mile, 3K, and 5K, while St. Norbert College junior Eden Maranell was named NACC Field Athlete of the Meet after winning the long jump and triple jump and posting a fourth-place finish in the high jump. St. Norbert freshman Kamdan Johnson collected NACC Freshman of the Meet honors after winning the 60-meter hurdles and placing second in the 400.

Concordia Wisconsin was the only program to earn points in all 17 events.

Six Win Multiple Titles
While Arvis was the lone competitor to capture three individual titles, Maranell was able to add a gold medal in the 4x400 relay to her two titles in the horizontal jumps. Two other members of the winning St. Norbert 4x400 quartet - Madi Crossman and Madison Gramblicka - picked up individual titles in the 200 and 800, respectively, while Katie Smith rounded out the quartet. St. Norbert's Larissa Huffman opened the meet with a win in the pentathlon, then followed it up with a win in the high jump. MSOE's Jessa Alderman swept the throws as the Raiders swept the top four spots in the weight throw and went 1-2-3-5 in the shot put.

Other champions included Concordia Wisconsin's Jacey Read in the 60 dash (7.86) and the quartet of Mikayla Becker, Adalin Nodolf, Olivia Ebel, and Danielle Van Grinsven in the distance medley relay (12:49.98), Illinois Tech's Zoe Turner in the 400 (58.56), and St. Norbert's Johnson in the 60 hurdles (8.97) and Isabella Galindo in the pole vault (3.45m; 11-3 3/4).

Record Setters
Five meet records and one all-time NACC record fell during the course of the championship. Johnson's 8.97 second clocking in the 60 hurdles broke her own NACC all-time mark of 9.02 set just two weeks ago. It also broke the championship record of 9.05 set by Concordia Chicago's Eve Shelton a year ago. In the 800, Gramblicka (2:18.24) broke former Green Knight Joyana Tarsa's mark of 2:18.60 from 2022. Maranell cleared 11.70 meters (38-4 3/4) in the triple jump, besting the championship record of 11.65 meters (38-2 3/4) held by MSOE's Jerica Kotarak since 2016. St. Norbert's mark of 3:59.02 in the 4x400 relay erased the mark of 4:01.22 set by Concordia Chicago in 2022. The final new league mark was set by Alderman, whose winning throw of 14.02 meters (46-0) bested the old mark of 13.95 meters (45-9 1/4) set by Benedictine's Kash Allen in 2023.

St. Norbert Earns Fifth Coaching Staff of the Year
The St. Norbert coaching staff, led by head coach Don Augustine, was recognized by its peers as NACC Coaching Staff of the Year for the fifth year in a row. The Green Knights posted their highest point total at the championships since joining the conference in 2021.

St. Norbert recorded at least four point-scorers in six different events - the 60 dash, 60 hurdles, 5,000, long jump, pole vault, and pentathlon.

Augustine, in his 19th season, is assisted by Corey Bins, Lydia Ulrich, Taylor Pasterski, Patrick Georgia, Peter Delzer, Karter Decker, Rob Draxler, Hannah KruseKelsey Marsh, Colin McKean, Taylor Kassube, Robert Tetzlaff, Noah Kleiman, and Maddie Lebrun.
